✨Supporting our work ✨ Would you help support ✨Supporting our work ✨

Would you help support our work? A donation of just £20 will fund one child’s healthy e’Pap breakfast each school day for a year.

We know that times are challenging at the moment, but perhaps you might be able to consider supporting us through a standing order, matched employee giving schemes or fundraising efforts at your school?

Please do go to our website for details on the different ways you can support us and, in turn, our beneficiaries. Even a small amount goes a long way.
To combat the January blues, the e’Pap Children’s Feeding Project (our main beneficiary) has shared a good news story about an initiative for young football players in their area:

“Strikers FC Development Academy have gratefully been receiving donations of e’Pap since May 2023...we have boys between 8 and 17 years of age, descend on Lorie Park to play soccer.  All boys travel by foot from townships around the Knysna area – most of them from Hornlea, Nekkies, Concordia and White Location – a 10-12km round trip.

Volunteers....make sure the boys have clean water, cordial juice, a piece of fruit and prepare e’Pap for the boys to have at the end of training (or before if they need it). Some boys will not have eaten since the morning, some not at all.

As you can imagine, this is a little challenging to do on a soccer pitch, but we have great camping tables, equipment etc and created ingenious methods, such as using a tall tub, paint mixer and drill to mix the powder to be a very smooth texture!  The boys love it and often come over for a quick go with the mixing. The process of soccer training, feeding of e’Pap and the volunteers have created a family environment for the boys, some of whom have very difficult home lives.”

Wishing all of our friends, supporters and benefic Wishing all of our friends, supporters and beneficiaries a very Happy Christmas!
As the weather gets colder and we gear up for Chri As the weather gets colder and we gear up for Christmas, a reminder from one of our beneficiaries, the NG Church in Laingsburg (who feed between 150 and 180 children a day), of why our work is so important:

“Keeping the children fed and healthy (especially in the cold winter months) remains the biggest financial challenge for the centres who care for the children... and they rely on donations to keep their doors open. Receiving e’Pap relieves a lot of financial strain and all centres are very thankful for the contribution.”

✨The magic of e’Pap✨ e’Pap is made from w ✨The magic of e’Pap✨

e’Pap is made from wholegrain maize and soya beans. Vitamins are added into the mixture in a form that the body can easily absorb. e’Pap contains 24 micronutrients and four macronutrients which maximise absorption and “bio-efficacy” in the human body. This means that e’Pap will be absorbed into the body more effectively.

e’Pap addresses the issue of “hidden hunger” and micronutrient deficiencies, which can compromise the immune system and interfere with focus and concentration at school.
Preparing e’Pap is straightforward - it just needs to be mixed with clean water.  This is an invaluable feature in the areas in which our feeding projects are based, as it can therefore be prepared in even the most basic of settings.

In the words of the e’Pap Children’s Feeding Project in Knysna, “the need for healthy food seems to be growing daily and we are often told of instances where the families just cannot make ends meet and the children are hungry. Our regular e’Pap breakfasts are a blessing to all the children along the Garden Route and help to keep them healthy and engaged at school. For some, this might be the only decent meal they receive and for most of our children it is by far the most nourishing.”

Why we do what we do….the projects we support co Why we do what we do….the projects we support continue to face struggles in the communities in which they are based - poverty, unemployment and social issues. The reports we received last year once again highlighted that the children benefit hugely from the regular e’Pap meals they receive. The e’Pap Children’s Feeding Project in Knysna in their end of year newsletter said that:

“The need for healthy food seems to be growing daily and we are often told of instances where the families just cannot make ends meet and the children are hungry. Our regular e’Pap breakfasts are a blessing to all the children along the Garden Route and help to keep them healthy and engaged at school. For some, this might be the only decent meal they receive and for most of our children it is by far the most nourishing.”
