A new venture in Cape Town

This year, the GRCT began funding the feeding of e’Pap to extremely needy children in the sprawling settlements of Hout Bay outside Cape Town.

Since June, the GRCT has been providing e’Pap for The Little Angels crèche in the fishing village of Hangberg, where some 14,000 people live.

Tiger Kloof School’s feeding programme – update

Catherine Boobbyer reports from Vryberg this month, bringing us up to date with the feeding programme which is run by Tiger Kloof School:

e’Pap feeding has now started in earnest. The children are given a cup of it to drink as, after a few experiments, this seems to be the way they like it best.

New painted playgrounds

Students from the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth recently volunteered to paint playground games, at a local school for children with autism. The paint and materials were funded by the GRCT.

The Hem Soup Kitchen

The Tiger Kloof School in Vryberg runs “The Hem” Soup Kitchen which feeds approximately 150 children three times a week. Many of these children are under 5 years old and come from the extremely poor community nearby in Huhudi. The GRCT contributes to the funding of the food at the soup kitchen.

New venture – giving pre-schoolers a grounding in maths

We have recently helped to fund the introduction of the excellent Numicon maths programme at pre-schools, affiliated to the Knysna Education Trust.
